The Yuma Kennel Club tries to have several presentations and other related activities during each year. Presentations are usually given at our monthly Club meetings, while other activities might take place elsewhere.
Certified Therapy Dogs may visit hospitals, nursing homes, schools and other facilities, bringing happiness and good cheer, even education, to patients and others. Therapy dogs may be purebred or mixed breed, but all must be certified to have the right temperament and level of obedience by one of the non-profit therapy dog agencies.
Paula Bensel, long-time YKC member and past YKC President, has been visiting nursing homes with her dogs for quite some time. Last year the Yuma Daily Sun printed a picture of Paula's therapy dog Cleo, an Irish Wolfhound [shown below]. YKC member Kiley Cabrera and her therapy dog have recently joined Paula in nursing home visits.
Kudos to Paula and Kiley and their canine companions for all their good work!
To learn more feel free to contact us or come join a YKC meeting to meet Paula and many other members that could help you with your questions and goals.
